The air that we breathe ~ Poem

Colin Carruthers Paintings

The Air that we Breath

The air that we breathe is past, present and future

the streams that we weave contain lightness and dark

The roads that we travel have many twists and turns

the poems we write live on and then burn

Our bodies have stars, sometimes the curtains are drawn

we cannot see the light or the newness of dawn

We tread each new path until at times we come to a stop

but each thrilling adventure can be a leap and a hop!

What is thrilling is that we never quite know

that's why our lives show brightness and grow

Each person we meet is love in all its forms

that's why we hesitate when there's no guide and it storms

I wonder what's next, this we cannot truly know

a hand full of flowers we scatter and sow!

I thank those dear travellers that stand by my side

they're a great gift in gratitude, helpers and guides
