Dance and MOVEMENT

I love dance , everything about it and pretty much every kind of dance. I am an Autism Movement Therapist and I practice Danzen Movement Art Therapy which has saved my sanity a few times. Or maybe more than a few.
Danzen Movement Art is a book on Amazon which is what I practice which is kind of oriented toward those on the spectrum but not exclusively,  now I am getting into applications more for other life issues such as general postural health and recovery from nervous issues and grief.

really love to see your love for dance and I am always happy to  help. Dance is a powerful healing no matter what happened. You do not need to,perform it for anyone just get in a safe space and let go. Love, Tara

Hi Tara, my ancestors in Ireland were crowned on Tara Hill as kings long ago.   I love dance, was an international folk dancer in my younger years, for over ten years I danced dances from Greece, Israel, England, Portugal, Turkey, and others, loved it.   I'm 72 now, and recently learned that the village of Ashland, in Oregon, where I will be moving, has a folk dance club so I will get to dance again with other folk dancers.   I love world music.

Hi Ametrine, wow, that Lady Moga Almeri, the Calypson Queen, is dynamite, thanks for sharing her music and her energy with us.    I watch the many folk dances of other countries on YouTube.   The Zulus in Kwa Zulu Natal, Zaire, are amazing dancers.    The Dinka tribal groups in Sudan and South Sudan, totally different styles, and music.   I regret to say that decades have passed, without folk dancing in my life, have forgotten how to do them, but once I get back into it, watch out (:->

  • Greg O'Neill

Wow, he's really good.   When I was much younger, back when I was folk dancing in my hometown, Albuquerque, a gal pal of mine, Carla, asked me to take bellydance classes to be her partner on stage.   I actually did take lessons for awhile, it was fun.

That's wonderful Greg that you chose to support your friend in her passion & choice of dance,..and had fun doing it..sometimes stepping out of our own comfort zones can be scary, other times you wonder why you didn't do it sooner aye.

One thing I learned long ago, back in 1969, was that music and dance are universal, every nation, with all ethnic groups, cultures, value their dance traditions, even as they often evolve in form and rhythms, many are kept as living links to the past, with music and forms passed along to younger generations to value in their turn.

Wow, both groups are a delight to watch in action, very good choreography to get everyone moving together, and with each other, it's not easy.  I still remember having to learn 11 dances, and performing six of them in one set, with a break and costume change, doing the other five in the second set, at the Festival of Four Cultures, with the Bigfoot Folk Dance Club here in Spokane.

  • Ametrine -(MHZ)

I agree with you Greg, this mustn't be easy . Thank you so much for sharing with us :o)

  • Eva

Thank you Tara...I'll be happy to share it. :)

Merry Meet, I will be moving to Ashland, OR, to buy ranches in the area to turn them into deeply biodiverse food forests, and off grid ecovillages of nature loving folk, Earth stewards will certainly be welcome to join me in service to the living, sacred land.   I gave an interview on Rumble in June at https://rumble.com/v4z5k3-global-symbiotic-culture-with-greg-oneill... if interested in this passion of mine to live and commune with the nature spirits, the Faerie, Devas, let me know, thanks.
