Energy Balance

A place to discuss balancing the energies working with any system - Feng Shui, Traditional Elements,Martial arts etc.

Many years ago I studied Feng Shui through the books of Karen Kingston, which i found really easy to follow.

Just before I left the U.K. for good, I Feng Shui´d my whole apartment in London. At this time we were in negative equity, so I was not expecting to a fair price for my property.

To my astonishement my apt sold for over three times the going rate and the highest EVER in the block I lived !!!

O_O Wow.  I have only ever dabbled in feng shui...but methinks I ought to look into it more.  I mainly work with the ley lines and environmental energies that affect my apt.  I am at a busy crossroads, for one thing, plus in an energetically "heavy" area with too much water energy...and lots of water as it is, *and* a lot of disturbed ground (deaths from mining, cemeteries that were moved, etc.)...I have no idea as to any of the Native burial areas.  So, for me it is finding a way to work around all this.

I had bought Judy Hall's one book Crystal Prescriptions 3 (the one dealing with EMFs and Earth Energies), and it even mentions about the energies of living at a crossroads...sooo...I thought, "Well, yeah...it is exactly like that."

If I can somehow incorporate feng shui inbetween all of this...I would be happy...LOL.

Hi TGS ! Just looked up in my book of Feng Shui and it comes under "Shielding a building". Karen Kingston suggests that you do this first inside a room, the the whole space inside, THEN the outside of a building. Basically the method is the same as laying in the snow and making angel wings with your arms only you work with your back to a wall in the corner of a room and use your arms to create a shield along each wall using your arms and imagination. A bit like the force field in Star Trek... This is basically done to keep the energies you have been working on IN your space. To do the floor, just imagine a roll of carpeting the size of your floor, only this roll is made of light, just unroll it till it is in place.

You can work on the outside of your building from the inside using the same proceedure. This would dumb down the energies coming in from all directions.

If you want this sheild up permanently, just ask your brain to carry out the work whilst you are asleep each night.

Karen Kingston´s Book is called Creating Sacred Space with Feng Shui. Forwarded by Denise Linn who is a renown Feng Shui expert in her own right. It is a 1996 print but I found her the easiest to work with.

    Much love

I will have to look into that book.  I got some good basic feng shui stuff done recently (my bed is in the command position in the bedroom) among other simple things.

I recently amped up my essences for my apt. and that's helping out a lot.  I plan to get another diffuser for my bedroom next month, as the one that I have which I had been using in there, I moved into the living room...which needed it. I diffuse a combination of essences and oils together which works well.

I would like to improve the love aspect for myself as I often find myself working behind the scenes away from the public, and in positions of "command"...and it does get very lonely. It would be nice to have a girlfriend as a companion so that I can engage in more personal relationships...instead of all of them being "career" oriented.

    Any ideas for that?

  • Carl Gustaf Prien

Silent. I found this...super guilty here... I have a lot of ship/maritime career related stuff in my bedroom...

"And one of the most important Feng Shui tips for romance is to be sure you remove any work-related items from your bedroom so you can focus on your partner. This includes your computer, iPhone, work papers, and anything that distracts you from romance."

    http://fengshuiforreallife.com/Detailed/189.html

Guess I got more rearranging to do.

Not sure what more I could do about my bed as it is single and I need to use my extra pillows for comfort for my neck.

But that site is helpful...just have to figure out what images I want. I know that 1920s flapper images makes me feel warm...as oddly when I was sorting things out better, and cleaning, I felt a strong 1920s energy in a specific spot...so maybe that is my cue.

O.K. Sure, lets explore some things that would be practical and cosy at the same time.

The bedroom. If you´re short of space maybe consider and Queensize bed.

Keep the colour warm and cosy, Blue and white is definately a no go here. Though I somehow can´t see you resonate at all with Pink!! so, how about some masculine hot colours, burnt orange, earthy red brown ! with a rug in the same colours. White wall would be ok with this if you have coloured wall this maybe overpowering

Make a note though that the bed should never have the feet facing the door!! as this represents going out "feet first" !!! if there is no option because of space, then you could screen the door off ??

Definately pictures of love. you could think about doing the 1920´s version of Carry Grant & A. Hepburn, or Bogart and K. Hepburn...

or even and picture of two young fluffy cats snuggled up but I cant this is your style. But definately NO pictures of a turbulent sea or your relationship could end up being turbulent!

An inviting tray of two glass and a bottle of wine etc. or a tray of two cups and saucers and napkins indicate you are ready to entertain.

The lounge is also very important as this is the first place you would entertain unless you have a large kitchen of course.

So a bare or cold looking lounge would indicate a cold relationship! you get the idea., im sure.

How the air moves is also important, the air should meander around in swirls not sharp squares as far the furniture goes.

Hope this helps with some ideas...

TGS. One thing DID stand out for me on that link was about making room in cabinets, wardrobes etc.

Personally If I was just into a relationship and found these  spaces ready for me to move into, I would run in the opposite direction !!! to me it gives the impression of someone desperate!!  The most important thing here is that your new relationship is comfortable to both of you, the apt pleasing to the eye in all directions and ready for some quality "get to know each other" time.

Another thing you are giving off here TGS, is the "command". ie the bed is in the command position. As at this moment YOU are the only one living there. So, do you want to be in command of your sex life? and I also note you use the "Command" in positions of work as well? humm, do you think she will feel "overpowered"? Just a thought sweetheart...

  • Carl Gustaf Prien

Well, the walls are like an ivory color (which is a good color according to what I read). A queen size will be too big for my room, so just working with my current bed. All the sources that I read mentioned the command position for the bed, but not to have the foot of the bed directly at the door...so that is how mine is.

I figured out why I do not like pictures of couples... because it makes me feel like the woman is taken, so I picked out two different photos of the same woman from an old 1963 erotica magazine I got (they are very tasteful photos)...to me, having only the woman in the picture means she is available.  I also preferred two different photos of the same woman, and not two different women, because of the purposes of monogamy.

As for the blue...um...well...I will get around to taking care of that.  I can get crimson insulated curtains next month or maybe come black friday this month for cheap, and a crimson lampshade for my would-be nightstand lamp.

My essence blend turned out well, and I put a cinnamon stick and rose buds in the jar.

As for the stuff I moved out from my room, I have found nice spots for it in my living room (which is in the north).  I live in a semi odd shaped building because there was once railroad tracks that ran nearby it.  But north is for career, and blue and black, for colors...and that is easy for me to do.

  • Silent Silver Moon Owl

Ivory walls sound good to me too.

Yep, many Feng Shui practicioners just copy and paste stuff, so really it is a matter of what looks and feels good, what flows, and what makes sence. The "Command" position for the bed for instance, is used for families, especially those with say, teenagers that are playing up! it puts them back in their place!!

Good idea about the female photo´s, never heard of that, but, if it feels right for you, then its right....and yes, you´re getting the idea, to represent a monogamous relationship, well done....

Your working area sounds good too. thats a good place for turbulent sea pictures to get you motivated and keep a good amount of energy moving.

its all going to come together eh?

I am doing a Feng Shui next week on a house thats going up for sale next saturday. So I am looking forward to that..

  • Carl Gustaf Prien

Ok...good to know on the copy pasta bit.

Yeah, I actually found 2 more of that specific model, so what I did was put the full page one in the center framed, and two smaller ones of her, also framed, on either side...and it turned out rather nice.

Getting night stands is probably going to be a chore since it will have to be a good 35" high since my bed sits up high...and it has been hard just trying to find one small high end table thing to sort of do the job.

Got what blue in the room, that I could, phased out for now.

My bathroom is in my bedroom so not sure what all to do there...but I took out the ship stuff from there too.

Yep...it is...at least it is not a costly adjustment either... it is just that I really do not own much red, crimson, scarlet stuff so that is where buying will have to be done.

Cool...hope it turns out well. :)

  • Silent Silver Moon Owl

When I had my bed high I bought two second hand identical night stands and took the legs off one and stacked it on top of the other !!  you get more drawers that way too.

The bathroom is ok to have sea stuff in on the walls etc and blue would go well in there as well as white, even striped..as its a water element room. and you could tone it up a soft pinkish lamp bulb or with a group of candle lanterns. maybe from the charity shops....

  • Carl Gustaf Prien

I will have to keep that idea in mind, as I like having drawers.

Ok... I like the colors, but I would like to get images of nature in Finland and Sweden for in there anyway, so I don't mind the change...it isn't a big bathroom anyway...I just left all the nails where they were as I like the locations.

I do have a huge wall in my bedroom and I am wondering what to put there... o_O

All in all, I am glad to be making these changes as they are making my place look better.

  • Carl Gustaf Prien

Almost forgot to add... I had added vetiver and clove pink (carnation) essential oils to my heart expansion oil blend which is helping. I may work with the carnation thing too aside from rose, since those were worn back then.

  • Silent Silver Moon Owl

hummm. how about keeping an eye open for a rug to hang on that wall in your chosen colours. It would make the sound cosy too ! or somthing similar. or, rather than pictures which could be distracting, paint a sacred symbol on that wall and paint in your own frame. or you could just hang a group of planters to one side with some hanging candle lamps tiffany style maybe...

  • Silent Silver Moon Owl

I haven´t tried carnation but I had some vetiver delivered last week which I must experiment with.

just a an added thing here TGS, mirrors need to be taken into consideration. they will need to be able to show the both of you and not cut off heads. and definately no dried flowers.

  • Carl Gustaf Prien

I will have to see...on that wall...sometimes I find stuff when I am not looking for it.

The only mirror in the bedroom is inside my closet door.  I tend to have and odd superstition with mirrors that was kind of confirmed in a dream.  I tend to keep them to a minimum.

    What about realistic artifical flowers?

  • Silent Silver Moon Owl

To be honest you are better advised to get a potted "living" plant or small potted tree.

  • Carl Gustaf Prien

I have a corn plant dracaena I put in a red pot, since I at least had that, so that should do well. :)

  • Silent Silver Moon Owl

Depending on the species, it should grow fairly tall yes?

When you come across two more plants that would add to the good air flow group of 3. I have "rescued" most of my plants as people get fed up with them a chuck them out. Cacti are worth remembering NEVER to have in the house as they are spiky which is not good relationship news unless you have a large garden and want to keep out certain people and critters. Gold fish are good luck, again have three and place them by the till or work area to bring in more money. I am not saying here that you need any goldfish TGS, just putting it up so people reading this will be informed of this practice, as having "living" things, plants, animals all help the flowing movement of good Chi.

  • Carl Gustaf Prien

It is pretty tall now. Not over my head tall but decently tall.

I do that too...adopt orphans, usually those discounted at stores.  I have two Christmas Cacti in my living room, but of course they are not really spikey in the usual sense.

What about for money? I have been having a helluva time trying to draw in new money.  See, I have militaria up for sale through a militaria dealer and that could bring in for me over $200, which I could really use for myself.  Right now, I am working with an essence blend that does seem to be helping me out, but as far as colors, location, etc. Any ideas?

  • Silent Silver Moon Owl

Yeah, love adopting plants!! Oh, Christmas and Easter Cacti are perfect they have lovely rounded leaves and pink, red or yellow flowers yes?

Now, I am not doing too well money wise either. But looking back over the years, I found that having red around helped tremendously!! I had huge red velvet curtains, I now have green and blue mainly!!! so, I think maybe I should change my colour scheme here back to red. !!!! Red is  used a lot in Feng Shui, if you look into any Chinese Restaurant red and gold are their main colours and they seem to always have fish tanks near their tills.... big hint I think  eh?

oh if you have a ships lantern, please keep it and use it.

  • Carl Gustaf Prien

Ok, yeah mine have pink/coral flowers. I put them on the bay windowsill not long ago, to get more light.

I have these two pots, clay ones, that I painted scarlet (I used a pomegranate as my red tone inspiration) with dark brown band/rim at the top.  I plan to put these in my bedroom, and then try to find two heart leaf philodendrons for the two pots.  Philodendrons do well for me and they are air purifiers so, with heart ones...why not.

I tend to have a color scheme that is mainly neutrals and blues, with the odd green here and there. As for red, I never worked with it until now, but I cannot do fire engine cherry bomb red (Mars in Aries 1st house here), but the deeper richer crimson tones work best for me...as it does not "excite" the Aries in me too much, if at all.  I tend to think instead of a nice deep red Garnet (associated with wealth, root chakra, Saturn, and therefore Capricorn...of which I am).  So perhaps Garnets are in order.

Oh yes...even here, red and gold and the fish ponds, except one place has a lucky cat since there is no fish pond.  I cannot have pets, so I read that a fountain next to the door would be good?

A ships lantern? Do you mean a storm oil lamp?  Where would I put that?

I just got done removing my ship stuff from the kitchen - dining area and wondering what would go well there.  I only have my vintage Finland ship flag and old Helsinki print hanging in the dining area.
