Family uncover crumbled ruins of a forgotten Celtic castle hidden in snowy woods
A couple took their baby boy and dog on a hike through a forest in Germany where they found the crumbling ruins of an abandoned castle built by the Celts which was later destroyed by mining.
A family of urban explorers have discovered the ruins of a forgotten Celtic castle hidden in woods in Germany while trekking through the snow.
The mum and dad, behind the Urbex Westerwald Facebook page, were walking through the snow with their baby in a pram and a Shiba Inu dog on a leed when they spotted the crumbling building hidden under the snow.
The series of images show the unnamed family wearing warm winter coats as they walk through a blanket of snow up to moss-covered bricks and mud that have fallen to form a barricade through the arches of the ruins.
The walls are only partially standing as the dad goes to get a closer look - something which should never be attempted without safety precautions.
Telling the story of their exploration in the form of a short story from the point of view of their baby boy, they posted: "We are all ready for our newest adventure.
"Daddy pushes me and starts telling the story,' Today my son we are watching a basalt cup that hides a secret.
"The Celts built a castle centuries ago and only 1350 it was built more modern but then a few years later she was destroyed by the Archbishop to Trier..."
One of the family's followers explained that the castle was destroyed when mines were built in the area.
She explained: "Nice pictures. However, there is nothing left of the castle due to the commercial basalt removal whether there was a "Celtic" ringwall facility before is still being discussed.
"Information about the bordering Mahlscheid and Hohenseelbachskopf can be found in the Daadener Heimatmuseum and published in 2012 and book of the same name by C. Marble houses."
Other fans were fascinated by the story and the virtual tour guide the family created for others to explore rubble.
One user said: "Thank you for the lovely description very interesting and the great pictures, I'm looking forward to reading the next one."
Another added: "Great trip from you. And I love your stories about it, you should have it printed in the newspapers."
A third said: "Very nicely told but if I'm going to follow them, then I'm going in the summer."

The world as you know it - all that you see, taste, feel and touch, comprises only about 5% of all of the stuff of the universe. The other 95% is what we have considered "nothing" or the "firmament" or dark matter or the heavens or mystic Other Worlds. This 95% is multi-dimensional and consists of potential realities that may be perceived.
A single thought...a mere whisper, ...... barely upon a breeze that catches a spark... all is tinder before the firestorm... and yet.
ONLY that whisper
ONLY that thought
the world is forever changed beyond the fears and dreams of cardboard men.
Freedom and change starts within:
It is encouraged by truth and courage of people who love
Built by the respect of true beings standing as one before each other.
Lets us cross every man made borders
without fear stare into eyes and hearts of all our brothers and sisters: within our words without shouting,or force to hold each to our truths; and let us without fear freely share what works...
