Qigong: The Meaning Behind the Movements - TCM World

I Do Luohan Style Qi Gong - What is it about..

I've been doing Luohan Style Qi Gong for some time now, its along the same lines kinda like Tai-Chi... the video below with the 13 Luohan Qi Gong movements is what started me off in it,I would so love to attend a monetary temple or retreat setting and unfold my main carters I use but we have none in my area sadly,so I work out alone...

Since I damaged my shoulder during my participation of parkour years back & luckily avoided surgery, cos of that my other martial arts of Tai Kwon Do & kick boxing days were over also, my surgeon said and so this was my best option to keep my body in shape & in trim while still using a form of martial arts which I love..

As I am 'a warrior spirit' I find that just as kundalini sexuality energy is recognised in a new way to be a dimension of energy expression, likewise exercise is soon perceived as a way to dissipate or activate my energy. Rather than exercising to stay in shape or because it is healthy, one begins to exercise the body & mind as a delicate and responsive medium for altering and balancing ones consciousness also and I call it my 'spirit dancing'  because of this.

It becomes a throttle that can be opened or closed so that contained energy may be released & re-distributed through out my body and consciousness to varying degrees.

This is the case with Luohan Style Qi Gong, it can be a wonderful meditation, as is any regular physically stimulating activity, but Qi Gong regularly and then stop abruptly may lead to discomfort, as in moodiness, irritability, unless one can transmute the energy so that it is radiated throughout one's being in a more universal manner: i.e as presence , any regular use of energy through a particular mode of life becomes addictive of that mode.

To me with my increasing sensitivity there is a enhanced ability to employ exercise subtly and to derive its benefits in terms of the overall balance of my consciousness without having to reach the domain of assaultive training.

One becomes less self-punishing, more graceful and more fluid, accomplishing this by consciously joining the energy rather than following some idea about how to exercise & condition.

I found my over all stamina and strength maintains an un-expectantly high level despite significant reduction in the kind and degree of exercise I formerly believed was important. What we call strength is in large part the degree to which a deeper current of energy can be accessed in ones activities.

In the early phases of this process basic exercise is an effective method one can use to ground the energy or activate it, exercise represents a powerful tool in nearly every aspect of Qi Gong because it is a basic channel for the energies if my consciousness, also you can do exercises using a Qi ball energy healing, and as I already hold the blue ray healing mist across my palms I've been able to use this as a form of healing therapy with my clients at work as well...

Raven again has led my way..

A "Luohan“ is regarded as the original follower of Gautama Buddha who has followed the Noble Eightfold Path and attained the four stages of enlightenment. He has reached the state of Nirvana and is free of worldly cravings - the craving for sensual pleasures, earthly existence, ignorance and wrong views - are gone. He is subject to no more rebirths and karma.

Shaolin Luohan Style Qi Gong (Shi San Shi Luohan) is a set of 13 postures/movements that was developed by Shaolin Monks, after contemplating and imitating different forms and expressions of Luohan (Arhat) statues in the monastery.

It belongs to the classic repertoire of Qi Gong exercises in the Shaolin Arts around the globe. In comparison to the 8 brocades (Ba Duan Jin), the Muscle and Tendon Transformation Excercises (Yi Jin Jing) and the meditative circular movements (Chan Yuan Gong), the movements in this set can also practically be applied for martial application. Together with the other Qi Gong sets, this routine develops a strong foundation to remain powerfully calm and aware.

The postures names are:

1. Old Monk Chopping Wood · Lao Seng Pi Chai

2. Luohan Draping Coat · Luo Han Pi Yi

3. Lazy Monk Liying on Pillow · Lan Seng Wo Zhen

4. Double Hands Pushing Mountain · Shuang Shou Tui Shan

5. Wind Swinging Lotus Leaves · Feng Bai He Ye

6. Luohan Carrying the Flag · Luo Han Qi Ba

7. Cloud Hands 7 Star · Yun Shou Qi Xing

8. Tiger Hugging Head · Hu Bao Tou

9. Rolling Hand Pushing Palm · Gun Shou Tui Chang

11. White Snake Spits Center · Bai She Tu Xin

12. One Hand Inserts Incense Stick · Dan Shou Cha Xiang

13. Luohan Carries Basket on Arm · Luo Han Kua Lan

This Qi Gong set was inherited by Master Zhu Tian Xi and was taught to him by the famous Shaolin Grandmaster Shi De Gen, who according to deliveries was especially skilled in Luohan Quan · 罗汉拳, Rou Quan · 柔拳 and in possession of knowledge about the great art, known as Xin Yi Ba · 心意把.

Multi Dimensional Reality

The world as you know it - all that you see, taste, feel and touch, comprises only about 5% of all of the stuff of the universe. The other 95% is what we have considered "nothing" or the "firmament"  or dark matter or the heavens or mystic Other Worlds. This 95% is multi-dimensional and consists of potential realities that may be perceived.

A single thought...a mere whisper, ...... barely upon a breeze that catches a spark... all is tinder before the firestorm... and yet.
ONLY that whisper
ONLY that thought
the world is forever changed beyond the fears and dreams of cardboard men.
Freedom and change starts within:
It is encouraged by truth and courage of people who love
Built by the respect of true beings standing as one before each other.
Lets us cross every man made borders
without fear stare into eyes and hearts of all our brothers and sisters: within our words without shouting,or force to hold each to our truths; and let us without fear freely share what works...

Emotional Harmony from the DailyOM

Emotional harmony begins with what’s on your plate — and makes all the difference in how you think, feel, and move through each day.  What we eat does so much more than fill our stomachs — it gently shapes the way we move through the world. Every bite sends a message to the nervous system, the part of us that helps us handle stress, rest deeply, digest our meals, and feel at home inside ourselves. When our days get busy and we lean on quick fixes like caffeine, sugar, or whatever we can grab on…See More
