Since the beginning, cultures around the world have had the desire to posses a tangible and personal form of worship, and these plaque style talisman amulets reflect that desire. These particular amulets come from the Indian states of Rajasthan and Gujarat and were made from around the late 19th to early 20th centuries around 1910 (making the newest pieces around 75 years old). Value NZ$185.00 - NZ$286.00

This pendant features the Bhumiya Raj aka Rajasthani Horse Rider who's Known as "The Hero" and  "The Ghost King", ...its said to have been either a military leader proprietor or chieftain who died while defending his property and local village from bandits. Never based on any particular person that actually lived, each village has it's own specific Bhumiya Raj who is always a male.

It is still believed that Bhumiya Raj still rides around their villages at night on his prized decorated Marwari horse dispelling evil spirits. The amulet was and cut and stamped in a dwelling or temple shape.so has a temple effect as a protection amulet/talisman.

This pendant is made of of good coin sterling silver (a traditional mixture of solid silver and other metals for strength) and polishes up very nicely. It has been stamped on a thick sheet of coin silver these are often not marked with marks of STG or 925 which are british markings, but is sterling silver all the same. The bail is in good antique condition & detailed at the back even in length.

This piece is indeed antique and it's condition reflects that. Rough manufactured bale,worn edges and weathering are a product of its time and use...they are not defects...

However so as not to be confused there is also to mention another similar looking pendant amulet & a legend to go with it, but its with a woman Goddess known as  'Kali Mother Thai Fetish' also riding but its on a lions back not a horse and she carries knives..see images below...
