Meet a friend of mine from the South Island,he's been filming up close the native birds on his deck & dolphine's out in the Akoroa harbour in the South Island..

Yes do check out the shots of the huge Native kererū wood pigeons,hes a wizz at filming them coming in to land,slowing their flight..also check out the video of the white visitor, were trying to suss if hes filmed a linguistic sparrow or a rough escaped white canary,we cant seem to identify it..but I think its a sparrow,so they seem to be breeding with other species of late I've even seen yellow headed ones and really pale ones with just a hint of brown on their feathers,so not sure whats going on with them.. 

Well we are talking  right about it on one video, but he said it hasnt turned up again, so it may have met its maker who knows?,it did look like a albino sparrow..but it may have been a escaped canary too..we will never know..it was cute though & gutsy.

Thank you for your lovely posts and thoughts.  And thank you for mentioning Brian Froud and for the magical world he has illuminated.  It is so important to keep the magic alive in every possible way.  Creating a new world as we are now, should surely include lots of beautiful delicate and entrancing magic.  Fairies remind us anything is possible and the importance of making wishes! So they can come true! 

You could be right about the albino birds having a short life span,the wee one on the video weve been watching.. hasnt returned again he said, so maybe its gone now too? they would be easy prey for the hawkes & falcons down there in Akoroa for sure..

Legging was a method of moving a boat through a canal tunnel. Early canal tunnels were built without a towpath as this would require a much larger bore, and hence cost more to build. Prior to the introduction of motorized boats, legging was one of the few options for getting a boat through such a tunnel.
