As for a group theme,...it would be great not seeing oak leaves thats for sure...I would have thought you as the owner  & creator of this group you can put a theme code on the groups frount page in HTML index, ...see Alex you've added the image of the lady on the rock in the groups description section, if you delete that and created a frount page instead then that image wouldn't show on the group page index either, taking up space,plus and you can add the theme codes to the groups frount page in HTML instead along with some text and other images..
