The moorhens don't fly well, usually just low flyers from what I've seen.

I got an email from the canal and river trust this morning with pictures of the baby swans, moorhens and coots

I've had a couple of days of painting as my friend's been staying and a trip out to the garden centre...it's great because they have a Hobbycraft there and I get to go visit the aquariums.  I love seeing all the fishes and got some ready grown antirrhinums in a gold orange colours, so that's my job to pot them up today a I've been sorting out my planters and weeding.

Think there was a kill on the lawn, lots of feathers about, there's a sparrow hawk which I see occasionally, he or she sits on the fence with back to the garden tearing bits of his kill

Moorhens thats a good name for them, yours have awesome colours, the Pukeko are actually very cleaver birds, but very poor fliers, and have no road sense too, they often get run over, cos they make their nests way to close to the road edges, then try to fly over the busy road like in a random decision... but then dont get enough height cos their bodies are too heavy..so they become fodder for the native falcons & hawkes..who eat road kill, then they too have been known to get hit by traffic trying to take off with their road kill, only they not getting up high fast enough either..tragic really but part of natures selection over here..

Thanks for those pictures, the moorhens are so funny, great to watch.  The story I remember was having a little pouch of food one day, I left it on the well deck and on jumps Mr or Mrs Moorhen snatches the bag then jumps off and takes the bag to the island to share with his family, or maybe they ate it all themselves, was never sure.  When my friend first got the boat a moorhen ran inside down the steps we tried to shoo him out but he flew up and got his claws in the net curtains over the sink...the babies are like little punk rockers with their little tufted heads, then later the juveniles turn brown then finally the adults look like they've had their beaks dipped in yellow then red paint pots.

Not often the coots are seen, but they do appear occasionally.  I see a couple of the Canada geese when they come to check if there's food, I call them Elvis and Priscilla as Elvis does a rather good impression of Elvis Presley

Multi Dimensional Reality

The world as you know it - all that you see, taste, feel and touch, comprises only about 5% of all of the stuff of the universe. The other 95% is what we have considered "nothing" or the "firmament"  or dark matter or the heavens or mystic Other Worlds. This 95% is multi-dimensional and consists of potential realities that may be perceived.

A single thought...a mere whisper, ...... barely upon a breeze that catches a spark... all is tinder before the firestorm... and yet.
ONLY that whisper
ONLY that thought
the world is forever changed beyond the fears and dreams of cardboard men.
Freedom and change starts within:
It is encouraged by truth and courage of people who love
Built by the respect of true beings standing as one before each other.
Lets us cross every man made borders
without fear stare into eyes and hearts of all our brothers and sisters: within our words without shouting,or force to hold each to our truths; and let us without fear freely share what works...

The Secret of Dreaming: An Australian Aboriginal Myth of CreationOnce there was nothing.Nothing but the Spirit of All LifeFor a long time there was nothing. Then in the mind of the Spirit of Life…a Dreaming began. In the empty darkness there was a dreaming of Fire. And the colour of Fire burned brightly in the Mind of the Great SpiritThen came a Dreaming of Wind, and the fire danced and swirled in the mind of the Spirit of LifeThen came a Dreaming of RainFor a long time the battle of Fire Wind and…See More
