Valar morghulis
Does it means "all men must die" or "Valar must die"?
I hated these words when I read them first, not just because I was searching info about the Valar, but there is something not good about this.
I agree that it is only play, only few secret words for Game of thrones, whisper for people in secrecy to recognise each other... but even then it is whispering about their intentions, it speaks about what they stand for.
I'm not sure, who, but someone indeed stands against the Valar. (but I do have my guess) I only hope this won't turn into real thing, real war, this battlecry might yet sound loud. I don't think that Valar would lose, but I don't take this lightly. It isn't coincidence...
Why else would not be there any official film production of Silmarilion tales?

Much of the universe of Game of Thrones is from a rather...spiritually compromised perspective. I would agree with you. Those who wish to obtain the rights to the story, wish to step in the way of the co-creative principles of the Second Music of the Ainur which is basically upon us. To seek to control the rights in search of power, and wealth, and control....

Um, I would think it is just a coincidence that he picked that word. I mean I suppose GRRM has read Tolkien (although I don't know whether he's read the Silmarillion particularly), but I doubt he'd be trying to encode such a message. Are you suggesting something is working through him...?

well the reason why there is no production is because the Tolkien estate refuses to sell the rights. more so after the Hobbit films.. that is the main reason why..
