James Brunt Organizes Leaves and Rocks Into Elaborate Cairns and Mandalas

Stone Mandala II Wall Mural by James Brunt

James Brunt Organizes Leaves and Rocks Into Elaborate Cairns and Mandalas

James Brunt creates elaborate ephemeral artworks using the natural materials he finds in forests, parks, and beaches near his home in Yorkshire, England. This form of land art, popularized and often associated with fellow Brit Andy Goldsworthy, involves detailed patterns, textures, and shapes formed using multiples of one kind of material. Brunt collects twigs, rocks, and leaves and arranges them in mandala-like spirals and concentric circles. He photographs his finished work to document it before nature once again takes hold of his materials. The artist frequently shares updates via Twitter and Facebook where he sometimes invites the public to join him as he works. Brunt also offers prints of his photographed artworks on his website.

Yes I see it as art also, and as long as you dont take things from nature to destroy a habitat or home of a creature persey.. then be as creative as you like, your not doing any harm then are you..

Very cool, loved the rock balancing video.  I remember going to Delamere Forest and making land art with my son, really enjoyed the process.  I hope others saw the art and it inspired them to create too.

The popularity of land-art is now so great that associations of artists are creating permanent exhibition spaces by teaming up with landowners or local communities. One such example is the association Arte Sella: The Contemporary Mountain, which operates in the spaces of Villa Strobele in Val di Sella, Italy. More than 20 lend-art and architectural installations can be viewed along the walking route, including renowned contemporary artists such as Atsushi Kitagawara, Kengo Kuma and Michelle De Lucchi. Pictured here is the work of Jae-Hyo Lee (South Korea).

Ahh yes Andy Goldsworthy & Michael Grab I know about also, I've done posts on both their art works, and also yes when ever I go on treks myself I make small versions of these things on the tracks, from what ever is laying around ..obviously mine are not as elaborate as these guys, but when I go back in a few months again,.. I find others have also done them too, its becoming a trend..when I was at the Lost Sculpture Park Arboretum in Waitakaruru I built a small tower and took a photo of it, couldn't help myself....lol..some people see this as art others see it as vandalism as some people are ignorant and they actually lift rocks from the streams destroying the natural stream eco systems under them,.. instead of those on the banks that have nothing under them..education is key..

Very cool, I love this type of natural art Vlada...I'd heard of Andy Goldsworthy when my son created some land art for a college project.

Multi Dimensional Reality

The world as you know it - all that you see, taste, feel and touch, comprises only about 5% of all of the stuff of the universe. The other 95% is what we have considered "nothing" or the "firmament"  or dark matter or the heavens or mystic Other Worlds. This 95% is multi-dimensional and consists of potential realities that may be perceived.

A single thought...a mere whisper, ...... barely upon a breeze that catches a spark... all is tinder before the firestorm... and yet.
ONLY that whisper
ONLY that thought
the world is forever changed beyond the fears and dreams of cardboard men.
Freedom and change starts within:
It is encouraged by truth and courage of people who love
Built by the respect of true beings standing as one before each other.
Lets us cross every man made borders
without fear stare into eyes and hearts of all our brothers and sisters: within our words without shouting,or force to hold each to our truths; and let us without fear freely share what works...
