True life found in a poem ~ Just for Fun

A couple of months ago I met a very friendly moggy...I'll call him in this poem Pongo Pete...a bit of synchronicity happened, or a bit of precognition perhaps...

Pongo Pete Goes to Sea

 

Pongo Pete was a very friendly cat

He didn't play a tin whistle or wear a straw hat

 

He dressed himself up, in stripes of Tuxedo Blue

He was silky and slinky in every shade and hue

 

Pongo rubbed his face under the warmth of my hand

It was an extraordinary meeting, Pongo Pete had it planned

 

It was Liverpool Mike who had warned me of the meeting

Little did I know of Pongo's method of greeting!

 

He jumped his fine self upon Brave Egbert our boat

Quivering his tail "What a Pong"! I do quote

 

Pongo's plan was to make Brave Egbert his own

When he'd conquered our boat, he would sit on his throne

 

Whilst he walked the ramparts of his feline castle

He went about his business with no haste and no hassle

 

Pongo briefly sniffed the air saying "Do I smell a rat"?

Could this be my dinner or should I go chase a bat

 

Whatever Pongo Pete ate, he did it with the finest of manners

He even fixed our boat with his spanners and hammers

 

When Brave Egbert set sail, the crew shouted "Starboard Right"

"Where are we going"? Oh what a sight!

 

Pongo was a Captain and this Captain was King

He met Pirate Jess and he offered her his ring

 

The pair they were married on the bow of the ship

The crew were the guests, they were very well equipped

 

This is the end of my story here told

We welcomed Jess and Pongo into our fold

Pirate Jess

Pirate Jess she stood her ground

She'd acquired her "sea legs"

Whilst resting in town

*

She went to the pub as she'd just been paid

And drank all the rum that had just been made

 

She knew what she wanted, she was feisty and fit

She could drink like a fella, and not give a ....!

 

She winked at the fellas but never in haste

she dressed with aplomb and in very good taste

 

She weighed things up, she worked on the ships

She'd met many a fella as she chassed her hips!

 

Pirate Jess was the finest feline around

She had a way with words and never wore a frown

 

She met Pongo Pete in a bar on the quay

She never looked back, she was talking of "We"

 

Pongo Pete the sailor was quite a respectable catch

when they were married they were quite the match

 

I'd like to end this story on the highest of notes

Pongo and Jess they were happy I quote!

Just had to have a look at the Weta hadn't heard of those, don't think I'd like them either Vlada, the cranefly/daddy long legs I don't like, my brother sellotaped one onto the door handle to scare me!

I've been up to Crewe Park last year feeding the squirrels, there's loads of them...they enjoyed the monkey nuts big time

See I knew there would be a 'Pepper' in there somewhere..lol..yes I love watching squirrel video on Youtube I laugh at their antic's,they are totally nutters..every day would be soul lifting & one huge bundle of laughs..yes I used to collect insects to scare my nanny with..lol..probably why I still am connected to them,but I seriously dont like the Weta,you can keep them away from me,they are horrid,and are like prehistoric,huge dark spiky cricket critters and scary,yuck... I'm always looking for them when I go bush,I have a fear of them big time, cos I had one fall from a tree onto my head years back and my mates at the time wouldn't remove it and instead played on my fear,now I cant get rid of it..I can look at the from a safe distance, but could never have it to close or on me..we are lucky we dont have any horrid dangerous insects or animals here in New Zealand unlike Australia..

Yes my friend from up the road from me Steph had kittens off my mums litter, then when her cat grew up Rachel had 2 kittens, then Step kept another one of the litter and she was called Pepper.

Ahhh loved watching the lassie films Vlada, beautiful looking dogs.

Used to have a grey rabbit when I lived at home, then I had another couple of rabbits, lots of fish outdoor and indoors.  When I was at school I had stick insects which drove my mum made when all the little ones escaped up the lounge curtains.

There's lots of squirrels where I live, all greys, there are red squirrels over in Wales that I've seen.

Yes animals are very knowing, they certainly know when you love them just like the wild birds that come into the garden.  Mummy blackbird seems to love being close by and little Robin too.

Love that you like animals in your life Julie & I just the names you give them 'RU' & 'Salt' 'Vinegar' was there ever a 'Pepper'? lol..yes I love all animals and I've always had cats n dogs from a kid, when I was a youngin my first introduction to a pet was that my nanny had a huge long haired caramel coloured Collie,she was just like the Lassy dog on the tv..I used to hang off her,we were inseparable I'd hand around her neck & under her belly and yet she'd still traipse me around the house,she loved me and I loved her,we were best buddies...I have so many fond memories of that time & what we did together,and I went on to have all kinds of other animals myself,from rabbits to guinea pigs,cats,dogs n fish,to magpies & possoms and had connections to many others in between from other friends & family members,horses,cows etc..and if squirrels were here in NZ I'd have one of those too,they are just adorable crazy critters and so cute but a possom is the closest we have... so I can tell you any kid without an animal in their life in the home tends to grows up with a cold empathy & un-compassionate heart space in my eyes..besides animals teach us so much too..and this planet would be awful if there was no animals, animals are clearly sensible (sentient intelligent, affectionate) and sensitive beings which happen to be nurturers of both their own families and our families if/when given the right opportunities. Pets/ domesticated animals must be spoken to kindly and included as part of a human family because that is how they see themselves. They feel disappointment and do also get into depression if not treated kindly or neglected, which affects their mental and physical well-being and health outcomes leading to organ dysfunction over time and suffering into early death. I knew all this from  being around them most of my life,It's also a law of the Universe to take care of our pets at spiritual level, as well as they do towards us... when I hear people saying things spoken like this for example on animal facebook forums:-

[I think most people who own dogs especially ones who treat dogs as their mate? Are completely insane. Why the f#ck would you want to take care of something that pisses and shits all over the place,let alone one that destroys your home. They are expensive and a pain in the ass. ]  ...

I tend to think these types of people dont deserve to be here on this planet even,... let alone to have a pet no matter what it is, or ghod forbid even go on to be a parent to a baby & a child either, as they are ignorant soul-less people in my eyes and will just go on to raise ignorant soul-less adults with the same mentality..

No all animals are the shizz to me,even the dangerous ones in other countries as they have a right to be here just as much as we do..you have to just understand them aye..

It's lovely sharing life with cats, they're beauties Vlada...Vinegar had a freaky start to life, he was about 9 mths old when he either had an accident or he was attacked, we never knew which but he had to visit the vets for an op and had to be kept inside until his wound had healed, so Rachel asked me to do some reiki healing for him.  He was very responsive.  He had his back leg and tail amputed but lived a full life and jumped over fences like a good un.  He had a long life and from what I could tell a loving life.  He used to come into the house and one day wanted to take up residence on my computer.  As he got an old fella he had trouble getting up onto the leather chair in my lounge and he had to haul himself up, just like an old gent ;)  I loved that cat, then towards the end of his left I didn't see him around, he stayed indoors at Rachels.

Ahh how beautiful,hes obviously well loved I can tell,and he likes people company..hes not young though is he?,normally black cats coats turn a rusty orange tinge with age...and hes starting to turn slightly on the top of his legs & chest area..arnt cats adorable,how they talk to us, my rescued boy 'Orik' says 'Hallooo' when he comes inside,really lets himself be known..I swear he has some Siamese blood in there somewhere,cos he talks so loud..but hes called a short haired tuxedo and is very loving..hes friends with Khalo and plays with him..

and I recently rescued 'Humati' from a farmers rubbish tip,after Kiro passed away..she was abandoned by a shear milker on a farm and just left to roam & fend for herself,she was friendly but traumatised when I got her, as shes a senior cat,she would attack 'Khalo'  & even jump on top of him,he was totally terrified as hes non aggressive and didn't know what to do... this would happen just when he was walking past,she was just on edge and in defense mode, but now shes more relaxed,and has become a real snuggler bed buddy every night,but still has a few stalking moments after khalo so hes learning to take a wide birth around her.. she just wants to be boss I think..she keeps clear of Orik though who really couldn't care less cos he was around heaps of cats at the rescue centre..

thanks Vlada, R U was mum's favourite, he was so very loving and he got that name as his speech was "are you", well it sounded like that to us both.  We had lots of cat, most of which were offsprings from mum's moggies.  

The moggies next door when Rachel lived there seemed to like visiting and spent most of their time in my garden, here's Vinegar, he's a parts of mum's cat family too.  His brother was called Salt

Ahh hes a blue Russian what a beautiful photo you've taken there... I also had one years ago, Amaiya was her name,she also loved my dog Lacuna and liked to be photographed with her,she was a real madam ..she lived till she was 19yrs old..Yes I love my pets,on my urban farm yard as they are soul companions to me & lift my soul better than some humans can.. people say I'm like a animal whisperer of sorts..I'm starting to believe them..

he's a beauty indeed Vlada..., I still dream of my kitties, I used to have four of them.

Pongo...not sure of his real name but he has a brother who is ginger and fluffy and looked like Kiro

They are two brothers who live at the marina

my mum used to have RU who followed her always, he used to love being photographed and I used to enjoy taking pictures of him

Ahh he so reminds me of my beautiful Norwegian Forest cat 'Kiro' who tragically passed away recently..miss him still..
