Cheetah in the Grass - Out on the Savannah -

My Water Colour Painting..

I love these creatures, when I went to the Wellington Zoo a few years back now, I so wanted to get the hands on experience with the Cheetahs.

But I was gutted as I couldn't afford it at the time it was NZ$159.00  for 20-30mins only,

If I had that I would have jumped on it cos you only get one chance at a experience like that,I was surprised, they are larger than I originally thought...

I also loved the Savannah Seval cat & woah are they also beautiful..

So I decided to take photo's & then gain others online and at some point paint from these later instead..See these below ...

Just last night I finally completed my water colour painting of them, gees it took ages, must admit I wasn't working on it fully, just a bit here and there..But I'm happy with it..now have to find a cool frame to put it in...

My sketches over the years..

Father Jack Look-a-like aka Tony...

Inspired by one of my clients and the TV series 'Father Ted' - 'Father Jack' look-a-like aka 87yr old Tony,[ his permission is given to share photo] , I spend many hours with this guy,hes still alive hes now 89yrs,born in England and was a ships cook back in the 1950's & claimed hes almost traveled the world, even through  Panama & the Suez Canal, he told me he even went up the Nile once and recalls standing on the deck witnessing the great wonder of the world the Pyramids of Gaiza, passed by ever so slowly as the sun set behind them, it was the best visuals hes seen in his entire life it was surreal to him.. he just didn't realise just how large they really were....

Also he recalled having one  encounter with pirates in the Caribbean, he said the Captain of the ship handed over a crate of Brandy to get past them, he said the crew wernt impressed however as they lost their precious nightly booze, for hot toddies....there was no thought about their lives being taken though lol..I tell yah I find them..he kept me captivated for days.. so he had loads of tales to tell, we'd laugh a lot,he loved the TV programme Father Ted and I told him he reminded me of Father Jack,he couldn't see it himself so I told him I'd draw him and show him the comparison, he loved it,said now can I have a drink of beer!...

My sketching work is mediocre where being an artist is concerned, there is no definition placed on art,it just is what it is to me and me only... outward expression or perception of the depth within ones soul placed onto paper in what ever media one chooses to project, and one has preference to subjects or types of format used to project it, be that pencil sketching, acrylic paints, oil paints, water colour paints, charcoal, pastel, metals, dusts, materials, clay's,glues etc and so on..what ever is part of ones expression outwards & works..

l left this un-finished on purpose its part of its visual aspect..

The Wounded New Zealand Native Wax Eye aka Silver Eye

Wax eyes would play in my fushia bush, every day catching midges and my cat Orik found them,he hurt one,all around its nose... but I got it off him & put it in a cardboard box over night, I half expected it to die of shock over night, least if it did I felt Id given it a warm place to pass away in peace...surprised next morning it was lively as..

So I put some Maori kumarahou healing ointment on its wounds & placed it in my aviary with my doves & nursed it back to health over a few weeks.. then released it when it was better, but while I had it I was then inspired to draw them in the tree outside my window..working off these photo's I took of it below..

Silvereye or wax-eye/tauhou: Land birds: Native animals

October 2023:-

Just picked up doing some art again & purchased some watercolour pencils, I've never heard of them before let alone used these, so its a first for me,so trial and error to see how I go, I did my first trial..will add others as I do them..

and some new brushes may as well..

October 14, 2023 - I had a go at using these water colour pencils for the first time, wasn't easy for me using a different medium & process after all these years, and I'd always used liquid paints, set in a sequence of techniques also Id learnt over the years of trial & error, now I was sitting with a pencil in my hand wondering how to get the same format in my picture...but I wanted to paint the seahorse I'd found on the beach up the Coromandel coast, but not seeing one alive I also had to go source a image from google to get a colour pallet to start with and then I added to it at will.....strange creatures yet so pretty...how did I do critique invited?

I think you have play around with these to learn ways to use them, watch a few other people using them on video too maybe..I'm so used to just taping & wetting my paper and letting the paints flow on the paper then blotting, but you can still do this with these but its ore controlled ..I dont think my pencils are the highest of quality but as they are so expensive I'll wait till I've mastered them before spending more on a different better quality set, your looking at around NZ$160.00 for a real good set here...seems a lot just for pencils..

Seahorse Facts for the Whole Family - Bella Coastal Decor

Subject Seashorse I found on a Coromandel Beach a few years back, I have no idea what colour it was,it was well dead & sun baked..so I also googled a live one to be a model also..

My picture from start to finish..its not finished yet..

building it up bit by bit..

Now I've had a second go with these pencils, but I'm not liking them at all..

Photo of:- Slipper Island (Māori: Whakahau) is located 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) to the east of the Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand's North Island.

Still trying these pencils, reluctantly, not sure I like them to be honest...

Ok this is a pictures below is of a wee 'Eurasian Blue Tit'... I got it from google search, ..its just like the little bird I fed when I was in Wales on my OE... I'll try to work from this as its a far better close up for getting the fine wing feather details..

Now here is my start up sketched pencil outline & my progress to follow from here..

Now to start the first colors ..still working on it, will be building it up..if it dosnt come together with these water colour pencils [as I'm not liking them at all ] but I'm persevering, I just think they are a cheap set and so the colours arnt very strong, at least I can go back over it though with my paints later nearing the end..

Ok I've done this much to it so far since 5.30pm its now 7.00pm, I can work on it way more tonight after its dried a bit and possibly finish it who knows..

But I've gone over the top of everything with a much darker blue with liquid blues, to cover the lighter blue as that blue pencil paint I had wasn't dark enough at all even adding black to it,you can still see some of it but its blended well.. I dont think it was ever gonna happen no matter how much black I added over the top.. I kept seeing a sky type of blue hue which I water blotted out almost as it was running into his tummy too ... but I'm still not finished yet though, I still have to work on his other colours more, change his tummy colours more and his back wing feathers,oh and his legs as well... so working on it more..wait for more updates tomorrow..I'm happy with it so far but he looks more like a blue sparrow rather than a Eurasian Blue- tit right now, lol but wait he will come together, while trying not to over work it...

still building it up adding more colour..

Just adding greens n blue hues with water colour paint now,cos the pencils dont have the colour I want..but I'm happy with the end result, just need to do its feet and I'm done..then have to find a frame for it..wont be using the water colour pencils again for any major workings, maybe just for filling in's..I didn't like them they wern't defining enough at all, and I found it hard to get them to spread with water over them.. I couldn't get the effects I get with liquids put it that way...wont be using them again, I prefer to mix my colours with the liquids..

Finished,...couldn't quite get the greens into its full body & wings without spoiling it... but happy with how it turned out anyway, just need a frame for it now..

I especially like the little colorful wren and also the bobcats. I hope that you’ll post those on the photos. Art is such a wonderful meditation for healing.

Oh see I missed this notification too..damn Ning.. you call it a Wren,I spose it is in the USA..but its a 'Eurasian Blue tit' but we dont have them over here in NZ,we have different  finches & wee wax eyes, sparrows & black robin...so when I went to Wales I was enthralled with this wee chap..just how friendly it was..a cute pretty wee bird..

I finished this the other day, winter Pansy doodle ..

Awesome, thanks for sharing your pictures Vlada, hope you add your apple blossom, would love to see you paintings again, you excel at nature images, both sketching and the painting.

Yes the apple blossom one I intend to do is gonna take a while as its not going to be just a small doodle..but I will share when I've done it,I've shared everything else I've done.. just its rather busy time right now with work..I look forward to seeing your art pieces you've been doing too..at the moment I'm having pc issues and cant get into my email inbox for some reason, and I'm relying on activity feed for comments,I've tried doing everything micro-soft suggested to solve the issue but to no avail, but my mate said its my pc its on its way out, its lagging on loading things big time like its back to dial up,lol... so he thinks its the cpu dying, but its old and its only running windows7 with no google chrome updates anymore,..so its time for a upgrade totally anyway, I cant complain really as I've had it many years & got more than its fair share of use from it....so this same mate is setting up a brand new pc for me,it should be here by early next week..

The canal boat one I'm painting is taking a lot of time Vlada, I loved the photo with the 2 boats I found online so I'm persevering, probably got another session of painting before I finish.

So glad you're getting sorted out with your new pc, that's a good friend you have helping you.  Thanks for letting me know.

Well that's what mates are for if they are IT's, I've helped him in the past many times,so hes paying it forward now, its a refurbished pc slimline, and hes setting it up with windows10 and all the added stuff you need, cos he knows I wouldn't have a clue on how to do that..so all I have to do is plug it in and open it and suss out  how to maneuver around it,cos I'm still on windows7 Exec  lol...so it will be slightly different..I'll suss it though..Yes painting large pictures does take time and you cant rush them, the little ones you might be able to push em out in a few days to a week, well that's what I can do,only speaking for myself..so yes when your ready Id love to see your works..

ahhhh I'm not a computer wiz either Vlada, and yes usually takes me a few days or on occasion a few hours with the painting.  I worked a bit more on the canal boats yesterday, 2 boats and 2 reflections, and a bridge with a reflection, guess I jumped in at the deep end with this painting and lots of trees!

No one places pressure on a art piece to be finished anyway, call it an artists prerogative.. I have heaps of paintings I just lost interest on and are incomplete, who knows one day I might pick them up again and find the effort to complete them..

It's one of those paintings where I keep seeing something in a new light Vlada, subtlety of water

So its one that can so easily be altered into a totally different theme as water flows..removing the many trees to make them as something else maybe rocks or boulders..just suggesting?

maybe the water is moving...times ways alter the flow

Multi Dimensional Reality

The world as you know it - all that you see, taste, feel and touch, comprises only about 5% of all of the stuff of the universe. The other 95% is what we have considered "nothing" or the "firmament"  or dark matter or the heavens or mystic Other Worlds. This 95% is multi-dimensional and consists of potential realities that may be perceived.

A single thought...a mere whisper, ...... barely upon a breeze that catches a spark... all is tinder before the firestorm... and yet.
ONLY that whisper
ONLY that thought
the world is forever changed beyond the fears and dreams of cardboard men.
Freedom and change starts within:
It is encouraged by truth and courage of people who love
Built by the respect of true beings standing as one before each other.
Lets us cross every man made borders
without fear stare into eyes and hearts of all our brothers and sisters: within our words without shouting,or force to hold each to our truths; and let us without fear freely share what works...
