Is there a notable difference between Elves and Fae? I have a few faery books and they lump elves, Fae, mermaids, undines, gnomes, trolls and dwarves under the same category. I think I have had past…Continue
My adventure into the concept of Otherkin began when I was an undergrad at a university in NNY. I was in the dinning hall, sitting alone, when I noticed a butterfly out the window. I studied it and it's beautiful wings, and suddenly realized that I had a pair of wings myself. My interest in Angel-kin grew, and I explored this facet of my identity. At the time I had met a young woman who I suspected right away to be an Elf, and I told her so. It turns out she's believed that for most of her life. We became best friends.
I have since had awakenings - through dreams mostly - of being a pixie and a mermaid. This came about later. I had put Otherkin stuff aside to focus on my Human life, and since I believe in Faeries I've developed a strong connection with them. I am able to see them, and have visited the Summerland/Avalon in my dreams many times.
After a while I set being Otherkin aside and once more got swept up into my Human life. I thought I was done with believing myself to have been an angel or other mythological creature. I counted these as past lives, at the same level as my Human past lives. So why am I getting into this topic again? A dream and a psychic reading.
Some years ago I had a dream in which I saw my dead German Grandmother's spirit at our old house. I came down the stairs and she was standing in the entrance way of our house. My jaw dropped and I looked at my other family members but they didn't seem to see her. She spoke only to me, and said, "Seek the Music of the Elves". Then she was gone. I woke up and was confused as to why she would say that time. Years passed and I still wondered what she meant.
A few months ago, I decided to see a psychic who was new to town. She runs an Angel/New Age store and does readings. I snuck there with a fellow Pagan friend (my parents would not have approved of my actions) and got a reading. She used a tarot deck and talked about areas of my life that needed work. Finally, she stopped reading the cards and asked me if I have a question. I said yes. I told her about the dream and what my grandmother said. The psychic stopped what she was doing and gave me an incredulous look. "That should be obvious! You're an ELF. I don't even need to see your ears to know they're pointed." I was wearing a hat that covered them completely.
I was dumbstruck. An Elf? Me? No psychic has ever come out and said that to me before. I left with more questions than I had when I entered her shop. Some months passed and I started to explore my Elven nature...which leads us to the present, my awakening. So far a few tid bits of memory have come forward but I feel there is so much to learn, and its linked deeply with my spirituality. I'm still in the process of learning, and very excited to take part on this journey. I think I had to wait for the right time to begin.

I can't decide if I'm Elven or Fey. Generally I remind people of Faeries, especially Pixies for some reason. Coins make my hands feel like they're burning. I don't seem to jive well with technology. I have phantom dragonfly wings. And I remember a little bit about living a life as a pixie. Now I have Elven memories too, of two elves specifically. But I'm not sure if that makes me Elven. I was thinking I lived as a Tuatha de Danann. Who were believed to have gone underground and diminished…

Welcome sister, may the mysteries continue to unfold for you.
The world as you know it - all that you see, taste, feel and touch, comprises only about 5% of all of the stuff of the universe. The other 95% is what we have considered "nothing" or the "firmament" or the heavens or mystic Other Worlds. This 95% is multi-dimensional and consists of potential realities that may be perceived.
